Connect & Serve
Our Work Together
Prince of Peace is blessed with a variety of ministries for all your spiritual needs. We invite you to explore all our opportunities and get connected! For more information, contact the church office at popowoodridge@gmail.com or 630-969-1268 (unless otherwise noted).
A-Men
This ministry is open to all men of our congregation. Members host fellowship activities, work on projects around the church, and support the property committee. They have three main events each year: Serving breakfast to the congregation on Easter and Rally Day (first Sunday after Labor Day), and the Annual Dexter McClure Pork Extravaganza.
Women's Group
Members are committed to growing in faith, providing support for each other, and engaging in ministry and action. Meetings are held from September to May with projects and activities throughout the year. Recent projects include: Collection of personal items and cleaning supplies for Sharing Connections, and Christmas cards for the troops, and our shut-ins. We like to have fun and enjoy laughter. It’s a wonderful way to meet and form bonds with other women as well as strengthen your bond to the congregation and community.
Adopt-a-Spot
Do you like to get your hands dirty? Our Adopt-a-Spot program could be for you. Members sign up to maintain a small section (spot) of our church grounds each spring and summer. Since starting in 2006, our church yard has undergone major improvements with trees and shrubs trimmed regularly and our flower beds tended faithfully.
Building on our Mission (BOOM)
The BOOM ministry was formed in 2003 for the purpose of building on our mission. The team meets a couple of times a year to set up events which focus on fundraising for the church through candy & nut sales, restaurant gift cards, annual garage sale, and Christmas bake sale.
Prayer Shawls
POP members make and distribute prayer shawls to people going through times of joy and sorrow in and outside our congregation.
Altar Guild
They are the important team behind-the-scenes making sure our services run smoothly each week and holidays. Members set up and take down Communion along with changing banners, filling oil candles and keeping all altar supplies in repair. Their responsibilities also include preparing the altar for a baptism and decorating the sanctuary for the church calendar: Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, and Pentecost.
Communications Focus Group
The POP Comms team works to strengthen our communications internally and externally. Their projects include: a website/logo makeover, expansion of our social media presence, advertising for major events and activities, live-streaming of worship services, and a revised member directory.
